Tarik C. Care Companion in Yonkers, NY 10701

Hi, my name is Tarik Curry. I'm 43 years old currently residing in Yonkers, NY. Growing up, I split my time Yonkers and Harlem NY learning various cultures. I assist students in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders for nearly 20 years at Southern Westchester Boces (2002 - present). The program is designed to provide a structured classroom environment to meet our students' needs while teaching them to be as independent as possible. I am also a certified trainer for those wanting to become certified in TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools) which also allows me to also interact with students in the TSPI (Therapeutic Support Program Intensive) for elementary students. The purpose of TCIS is to reduce the stress and pain of a situation and to teach students constructive coping skills that are used to replace the negative or unwanted behaviors and responses to stressful situations and negative emotions.

Outside of work, I'm the associate pastor of Solid Rock Christian Center; a multiracial and non-denomination church where we serve the people in our surrounding communities (2013 - present). We provide them with spiritual and natural guidance/needs. We encourage healing to the hurting and broken-hearted while fostering unity and peace. My role in particular consists of preaching/teaching and hosting community outreaches for young people. I currently mentor teenagers and provide as much support as I can.

I've recently been involved with elder care (2017 - 2021) where I assisted in dressing, bathing, and toileting. It was a great experience and a reminder that at the end of the day we are to not take anything for granted and to help our fellow man. I'm responsible, caring, patient, mild mannered, and fun loving. I'm looking forward to being a great fit.
