I am a stay at home looking for part time work. My children are school age and I'm interested in providing care only during hours/days they are in school.
My grandmother had a stroke when I was 14. She was paralyzed on one side of her body. I helped my mother care for her in our home for approximately a year before she was moved to a nursing home where she received end of life care. The nurses and care staff were less than compassionate to say the least. After that, I knew that it was the field I needed to be in.
I started working as a CNA in a nursing home when I was 16 and continued for about 4 years. I cared for 50+ residents in a nursing facility for skilled to assisted living (most of the time understaffed and the only CNA on the floor). I loved my residents and took great pride in caring for them while preserving their dignity.
After I had my first child I decided to make a career change but I've always wanted to return to the healthcare field. Although I loved working in the care facilities, they just don't fit my schedule.
