I took my first job providing care for an elderly gentleman with Alzheimer's when I was 16. I would go into the home before and after school to assist his elderly wife. I prepared his food, fed him and helped him use the restroom. I would proceed with a light sponge bath, a change of clothes and help him settle into bed in the evening. I also used to work at Tuscarawas county MRDD and I would help adults and children that had physical or mental disabilities. Finally I used to volunteer in a nursing home in which I would do activities with the elderly, help them remain mobile, and with any grooming needs such as filing nails and painting their fingernails in order to help cheer them up.
