April’s Bio
I bring a strong educational background at Asbury University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Through my education and work experience I have practiced patience and care in small details to ones on a larger scale as I place emphasis on value in my work. My experience includes working with children and elders since my youth, during college, and in adulthood through church activities and work experience. As a Lunchroom Monitor at Southside Elementary School for Hopkins County Public School System, I assisted and helped children when needed as well as teach appropriate behavior as I monitored and kept order. I worked and helped with a child who has autism as well as a child with an eating disorder. They became more and more comfortable and managed well as I worked with them individually. The child overcame his eating disorder due to anxiety because I worked with him daily. He made improvements each day and became comfortable overtime therefore joining the rest of his peers with no difficulties.
More recently, I cared for a lady suffering with dementia, as a caregiver. She experienced comfort in her surroundings due to keeping her environment peaceful as well as attending to her needs of mental stimulation. I managed her household when caring for her, in her home: washing dishes, preparing meals, social events, arranging her schedule, making appointments, running errands, cleaning, laundry, companionship, exercise, and number of other tasks. In my youth to adulthood, I accompanied and cared for my grandmother from snapping peas to washing dishes as well as providing companionship. And also in my youth, I worked with a young girl suffering with cerebral palsy. I worked with her for several months to help her maintain motor skills and flexibility. She maintained a healthy, positive attitude through her struggles. She achieved further mobility and flexibility with continual persistent attention.
