Hi, my name is Dorothy, I have worked as a Home Health Aid for the past 4 years. I worked for a company called Heart of Gold for 3 years but left my job to care for my sick mother, when covid broke out. I loved all my patients and cared for them like they were my own. I assisted my patients with daily living activities, which included, cooking, cleaning, bathing, and the toileting. I documented all symptoms, medications given and vitals. I enjoyed taking my patients on outings, depending on their condition. I have thrown wheelchairs in the back of my truck many times to take patients to their doctor's appointments. I am great with patients with dementia. I have listened to the same stories over and over again, like it was the first time hearing them. I really enjoyed my patients. I do physical therapy exercises with my patients as well. I really learned a lot with this job. It's not always easy I had very sick patients and patients that get confused and can get nasty and even violent. I understand where it's coming from and know how to speak to them to calm them down.
