I have worked in the healthcare field for 20 years. I received my C.N.A. license and my B.S. in Human Services. I have worked mostly with the elderly in various settings. I worked with clients whose ailments included Alzheimer's, Cancer, Stroke, and Dementia. As a home healthcare provider my duties varied based on the client’s needs. Activities included, but were not limited to assisting with personal care needs such as bathing, dressing, eating, and walking. It also included shopping, preparing meals, doing laundry, and paying bills when deemed necessary.
Additionally, I provided recreational activities and crafts to engage my clients. I was also responsible for scheduling other caregivers when 24 hr care was needed. I am moved with compassion for those that have to deal with the effects of the aging process because each individual experience the aging process differently. My goal is that each person I care for be able to maintain a level of their independence as well as their dignity, and provide an environment that is conducive to their functioning at their optimal health.
