I started my caregiver as a CNA within the nursing home from 2001 to 2007. My duties included bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, ambulating and any other activities to assist with day-to-day ADLs.
In 2007, I left the nursing home and began my journey in hospice care. My duties were the same as my nursing home duties, but I also provided end of life care to ensure that patients are comfortable and provide support. I stayed with hospice until 2016.
At this time, I started working at my local hospital on the surgical floor. I stayed doing hands on patient care until 2017.
From 2017 to present, I still provide patient care but more so office/lab setting. I am a phlebotomist and I assist nurses with the work up of patients.
I feel that I bring a lot to the table as far as healthcare experience and lately I've decided on the weekends that I would love to assist others as a caregiver providing care to their love ones.
