I am currently about to graduate in November with my bachelor's in psychology. Then, I will continue pursuing my master's degree. after several surgeries over the last few years, on my back, I was unable to continue my work as a restaurant manager. However, things happen for a reason. This pushed me back to school, and hopefully will get me into my career as a therapist where I can set hours to accommodate for any physical limitations. I don't really have many limitations anymore, my main problem is standing or sitting for 8 or 9 hours. If I mix the two, I am okay! I absolutely adore children. One of my areas of focus is developmental psychology working with young children through adults. I have played father to my 12 year old nephew, helping to raise him since he was a newborn. This is because my brother was out of the picture and not standing up to his obligations as a father. I get him half of the time, weekends, some times during the school week, and for a few weeks at a time in the summer. I have had much experience with babysitting and helping to care for children throughout my years of Life. The only time I actually stayed with someone, was when a friend of mine was divorced, I moved in and played "mr. Mom" for just over two years. During this time, I helped to potty train and take care of 2 year old twins, a five-year-old, and a nine-year-old. Now they are in their teens and twenties, and the reality of my age has set in! This was many years ago, however, my passion for caring for children is still strong. I have not had the experience, other than my nephew, in quite a few years, but helping watch him grow from a toddler into a preteen has been a blessing, and a teaching lesson.
