My experience as a care companion started when I was young as a teenager taking care of younger children on Friday nights and weekends, this helped me t buy pencils and paper for school. I loved it, because I have always loved being with all types of people and caring for children. This desire increased when my Grandmother became ill. As a young lady, I moved in with my Grandmother and took care of her during the week, while my Mother cared for her on the weekends. I had a job of housekeeping and running grocery errands for the elderly in the neighborhood. After graduation, I had a desire to travel and I enlisted in the United States Air Force. I retired after twenty years of military service, in the field of Administration. Once, out of the military, I wanted to help people. So my qualifications are as such:
* Worked as a Demonstrator in COSTCO
* Worked as a Teaching Assistant, Secretary, and an Afterschool Program Leader - Midway Elementary School, Sumter High School, Bethany Lutheran School
* Worked as an Life Enrichment Director - Emeritus Senior Living
* Worked as a Generations Program Director, Memory Care Department - Integral Senior Living, duties were:
*The coordination of all clinical, programming and staffing, and the supervision of all Medical Technicians in the Memory Care Department. This includes pre-admission assessments, programming for residents, and training and supervision of the staff. Coordination with family members of the residents, in the maintaining of their physical and mental health. Planning activities on the in and outdoors (weather permitting), and trips abroad.
*Worked as Caregiver - Hired Hands Homecare, duties were:
*I served as a caregiver and homemaker to assigned residents in their homes and/or in their Assisted Living, Rehab facilities, hospitals, etc. Assisting each resident with the activities of daily living, preparing meals, assisting with their recreation, such as; going for walks, driving them to and from their specific appointments. My position also included caring for Hospice clients.
