I grew up helping my mother take care of her brother. He had severe Down syndrome and needed help in every aspect. As a young child, I would help with hygienic chores such as shaving and bathing. I would also take him for walks during the evenings, help with meal prep and feeding, just about everything. My grandmother also lived in the home and as she aged, needed assistance as well. This would sometimes include driving her around for errands, accompanying her inside stores or helping around the house.
