I have a soft spot in my heart for older people...having no children of my own I worry what will happen when I can't take care of myself.
2008-2011- Took care of my dad that had Rectal Cancer- He went in to have his Ileostomy reversed, his intestines had been radiated so badly and with no place to go a fistula(abnormal passage between two internal organs or from an internal organ to the body surface) formed where they had performed the surgery.(He had a hole with no stoma) Over the course of a year of him being on Total Patient Nutrition (at home) he had surgery to correct fistula and change to a colostomy. Unfortunately the cancer came back in his lungs and brain and took his life in a matter of weeks.

2012-2014- Took care of Don Smith-I started out just taking Don to Doctor's then ended up living with him and taking care of him, due to his Macular Degeneration taking most of his sight and he had COPD and chronic lung disease.

I helped take care of my stepdad that had COPD and Emphysema. He had a lung reduction surgery at the University of ST Louis and as family we had to attend several classes to help with his disease.
