Why do I love being a caregiver?
I, Keyairah Richardson, truly believe that caregiving is more than just a job; it's a calling. I love being able to support individuals and families in meaningful ways, whether it's providing companionship, assisting with daily tasks, or simply being a comforting presence. The ability to make a difference in someone's life, to bring ease and joy into their days, is what keeps me motivated and fulfilled.
What experience do I have?
I have 15 years of experience as a caregiver, supporting individuals with various needs, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those recovering from illnesses or surgeries. My experience ranges from assisting with daily living activities to providing emotional and social support. Every person I’ve worked with has taught me something new, and I cherish the connections I’ve made along the way.
During my four years at Duncanville High School, I became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in 2018, gaining hands-on experience in patient care and support. From 2023 to now, I have also worked at a food pantry, serving the community and helping families in need. Additionally, I have earned my Associate of Arts in Teaching - Early Childhood - Grade 6, which has deepened my understanding of child development, care, and education.
What skills and training do I have?
I am trained in [any certifications you have, such as CPR, first aid, or specialized caregiving courses], and my skills include assisting with mobility, meal preparation, medication reminders, personal care, and creating a safe and comfortable environment. I also bring strong communication and patience to every interaction, ensuring that those in my care feel heard, respected, and valued. My background in education allows me to connect deeply with children, and my community service work has strengthened my ability to offer compassion and support to people from all walks of life.
