I have been doing caregiving and take my job with commitment and dedication. My experiences include giving the patient the utmost help needed for the daily living such as bathing, meal preparation, communicating, giving the medication ,getting the patient do some basic exercises to keep the strength going, reading newspapers and walking with the patient if applicable. I also worked with those that had dementia. Having sundowning is a challenge for any carrgiver but you should know when to step up or to step back.And you can never win when they are having troublesome moments and they don't want caregivers. But leave them at a distance and after a few minutes they will love you again and win their trust for medication etc. Sometimes they are just thirsty or want the TV turned on but they cannot say it.
I had several people under my care and supervision with all kinds of cases.
