I’ve had experience taking care of my grandparents before their passing.

My grandpa was always very strong so when he got sick, it came as a shock to the whole family. When he got really ill and was admitted to the hospital, it turned out he was sick and was pushing everyone away. While doing so, he hid his pain from everyone because he didn’t want anyone to worry about him. In his remaining time, I took on the role to take care of my grandpa. From cooking, feeding, talking to him, getting his mood up, helping and assisting him to the bathroom, walking around, pushing the wheelchair, giving massages to help aid in blood circulation, brushing his teeth, etc..

About two years later, my grandma started getting sick too, I helped out in similar ways and helped her cleaned the house and bring her to the restroom, carried her, assisted her in everything she needed, make/get food, drinks, etc.

My most recent experience was with my ex. He was diagnosed with cancer and I took care of him for about 4 months. Everything happened so fast that I didn’t even know how to react. It went from bleeding through stool, getting his intestines clipped, to him having cancer. Throughout his time in the hospital, I’ve always stayed by his side and never left his side unless I was doing my own thing like eat, shower, restroom, etc. other than that, I was his emergency contact and was taking care of him and aiding him in doing everything. From wiping him down with the hospital cloth, changing the sheets, following dietary restrictions, feeding him, assisting him in and out of the hospital bed to go to the restroom or to walk around, dressing, changing hospital gowns, post surgical wound care, icu care, emergency room care, cooking/meal prep, cleaning, grooming, paying his bills, etc.. I was always by his side until we separated.
