My name is Cassidy Bass. I'm 21 years old. Growing up my brother had severe Schizophrenia. I was the only one who could understand what he needed. I knew how to talk to him, how to act around him, how to help him when he would go into a manic episode. I just knew how to help him feel just like the rest of us. I helped him live his life to his fullest potential and helped him help and fulfil his needs the best he could with as much but as little help as I could. When I started looking for a job I found one doing exactly what I loved doing. I worked for rha community services where I was a direct support professional. I worked with 16 individuals with disabilities that ranged from developmental, intellectual, severe M.R., mild M.R. and everything in between. I assisted and supported them in completing every day tasks, from showering and brushing their teeth, to helping them pick what to wear and how to make their bed, to doing activities that they wanted to do, going to doctors appointments and work, to helping them remember what medication to take. I worked as a caregiver for about a year, I am med certified, but do not have a cna. I am looking for a job doing something similar.
