My name is Elena, I’m a college student at NOVA who is online both during and outside the pandemic. I have always been told that I am quiet and prefer to spend my time reading or exploring. While I haven’t had much intimate experience with being a companion, I have worked with rehabilitative and therapeutic programs, specifically the Wounded Warrior program and those with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and Down-Syndrome. I, myself, spent some time in a wheelchair due to an injury I sustained as a high schooler, and the rehabilitation was difficult and put a lot of stress on my family. My mother was always incredibly patient with me and seeing her strength through those years was what inspired me to push through physical therapy and work towards my academic goals. I want to be able to support someone in a similar situation because I know that accepting help and having to rely on someone else isn’t always easy.
