I enjoy helping others, and as a senior myself, have an understanding of the challenges involved in growing older. Over the years I have been employed as a teacher and writer, but some of my greatest satisfaction has come from the times in my life I've had the privilege of providing care and companionship to an older adult. Too often, seniors live alone and don't have the benefit of someone else for company, to prepare a nourishing meal or even to know whether they are having a good day or not.

My background includes caring for my mother full time for 2 1/2 years. Mom had Parkinson's disease and while helping her, I learned a lot about this disease.

I have worked privately as caregiver for a mother and daughter living in the same home. The daughter had severe arthritis and could not care for her elderly mother. I provided assistance with daily care, transportation to doctor appointments, meal preparation and light housekeeping.

As a certified nurse assistant in a nursing home wing of hospital, I attended to patients with chronic illness, dementia and advanced age.

I also have over 12 years experience in training, research and volunteer work with Alzheimer's patients. I have been a hospice volunteer and provided respite for family members.

For your peace of mind, I can provide respite help, food shopping and meal preparation, light housekeeping and companionship with loving care and understanding.
