I believe that persons with dementia, Alzheimer's or other disabilities feel and respond to loving care and respect whether they can communicate or not. I have been employed by a home companion care company here in the Twin Cities.  I was very close to my uncle, who developed Alzheimer's. I visited him frequently, taking walks and sharing meals with him. I have provided Companion Care for a woman with early-onset dementia, and an Alzheimer woman in hospice care. I provide Companion Care. I am not a PCA. Sharing time, caring, talking about present and past, engaging in stimulating activities. I oversee and assist elders with many activities of daily living. Your loved one maybe mostly capable of doing, may need some assistance with, dressing, hearing aids, basic hygiene, e.g. using toilet, brushing teeth, hair and maintaining balance. I can help with transportation, using your car. My car isn't suitable.
My rates and availability aren't set in stone. Since weekend availability. I'm currently sleeping short-term assignments but I do not rule out a long-term assignment given the need and a good fit with the family.
