From a very young age I learned that the most important thing you can do in life is not what you do for yourself but what you do for others. We all need help sometimes, some just more than others. I took care of my great grandmother for 5 years while she was bed ridden with Alzheimer's disease. I went to Sentara College when I was 19 and became a Nursing Care Partner. I didn't like the hospital setting, other nurses weren't caring enough to them it was more about the paycheck than the patient at least 50% of the time! After that I took on a few home healthcare clients. One was Billy a stroke victim with very limited mobility but I loved him and still visit time to time. Another patient was an baby trapped in an adult body, she couldn't really do anything for herself, but that was ok because she had me and her family to love and care for her! I am very professional but if your looking more for someone to treat you or your loved one like a job I'm not the caregiver for you! I love all of the people I take care of and consider them family. I wouldn't have it any other way.
