Jena L. Care Companion in Battle Ground, WA 98604

My name is Jena Leslie and I’m 23 years old. I have 2 dogs and 1 cat and I’m getting married to the love of my life in a few months. I live in battle ground on 1 acre and absolutely love where life is taking me. I really love people and pets.

The past few years of my life I have been getting fulfillment out of caring for others. From 2016-2019 I spent my days in an elementary special education classroom. I was responsible for caring for my students 1 on 1 including school curriculum, helping in the bathroom, teaching them life skills, and forming friendships with others. I loved my job as a paraeducator so much that I decided that I wanted to work in an elementary school forever. I left my job to go to community college in hopes of having my own classroom someday.

Right now I’m working toward my goal of becoming a 1st grade teacher. I also have been a respite care provider since the beginning of 2019. I would make home visits to 3 different clients to care for them and give them something to look forward to every week! I also looked forward to my visits. I cared for my uncle most often, with 15+ hours a week depending on his needs. He had very low functioning Down syndrome and I would care for him in every way that he needed including changing diapers, talking with him and singing t him, reading books, taking him out on adventures, and working with my grandmother to plan his life events. Sadly, he passed away about 7 months ago and I dearly miss him and being a caretaker.

I get so much fulfillment out of caring for others. It gives me something to look forward to and I long for human interaction that can help others. It makes me happy to know that I can make a difference in someone else’s life. If I can make someone smile or help them it makes me feel like I am doing something worthwhile.
