I have over 20 years of experience as a Medical Assistant (RMA) in a Family Practice office in Colorado where we predominantly cared for an elderly patient population. Prior to my Medical Assistant career, I was a CNA while going to school. I currently live in Gig Harbor, WA where I provide part time care to a lovely elderly couple. I go grocery shopping, take them to doctor appointments, care for their dog (even taking her to the vet and on walks), verify they are taking their medications as directed, pick up their medications at their pharmacy, install safety equipment (lift chair, bed rail, safety toilet), and do light cleaning. I make meals when needed and assist in bathing if necessary, assist with movement around the home. With my medical background, I am able to see the signs of a health issue that may need intervention prior to the average person without a medical background.
I enjoy working with seniors for many reasons. The care and wisdom they have shared over their lifetime is to be cherished and respected. The least I can do is provide the assistance they need during this phase of their life.
