I am currently pursuing my certification for a Behavioral Technician. I have provided care giving to my elderly mom who has pancreatic cancer. I have friends with ASD and feel very comfortable interacting with teenagers and adults with autism. I've worked in health care delivery compliance for the last 8 years and I am looking to transition into part time work helping people with special needs and seniors. I find this to be much more fulfilling and rewarding than my 'desk' job.
I spent a great deal of time with my niece when she was a child and a teenager and enjoyed her uniqueness. It led to us inventing interesting games and craft projects. She was subsequently diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, depression and OCD.
I have an amazingly sweet Golden Retriever who although not certified (yet), would make a great therapy dog if someone would like me to bring him with me.
