Judy’s Bio
Caring for seniors has been an important part of my life. Beginning in 2002, my husband and I served on an 8 person team providing a church service at a retirement home once a month for 10 years. We sang in a quartet & and the others provided sound & gave a sermon. We also called on seniors in their homes or Assisted living facilities, even hospitals to sing & pray for them. It blessed us as much as it did them. We were so honored to be able to minister to them in that way. We had to set this aside when it became obvious that my parents needed our help.
I was working full time & needed to continue, so I had to find a companion / caregiver to help out during the day. Finding & keeping a caregiver was an excruciating process. But! When we found our perfect caregiver, so wonderful! I was so blessed by the care my parents received by our caregiver in my home, I can’t help but want to do what I can to allow others the peace of mind that I received. Additionally, my parents were blessed by the caregiver in so many ways! Every senior deserves that kind of loving care.
I’m recently retired now and can think of nothing better to do than assist others in caring for their parents in the way that having a companion/caregiver allowed us to do.
My companion / care giving experience is solely what I learned In caring for my dad. This included stroke recovery including carrying out instructions from physical therapist & speech therapists, recovery from surgery including wound care per the nurse’s instructions. Ongoing needs were, transitioning from chair, bed or car to walker or wheel chair, balance exercises, showering, charting vitals, following dietary guidelines for diabetes & acute kidney failure & managing medications. Additionally, I worked with hospice care to manage pain. On the brighter side, our caregiver & I assisted my dad as he continued to pursue his interest in metal machining right up to 90 years old!
I am patient, soft spoken & calm. My career was spent in accounting. I have 2 daughters & 4 grandchildren.
My personal interests are sewing, knitting, embroidery, many types of crafts, gardening, hiking, travel, reading and journaling.
