10 years ago, I was asked to care for an older woman on occasion. I did some cooking, cleaning, bathing, laundry, transportation, and best of all enjoyed every minute. A few years after she passed, I cared for her son in law. He was quite ill. Setbacks were common, but I kept an upbeat attitude, and helped him fight. I cared for him until 3 years ago, when he moved. I enjoy conversation and hearing stories from seniors . I like to see them smile. I have given meds, dealt with oxygen tanks, changed dressings, traveled to doctor appts. I am now helping my mother in law about 6 hours a week. Every older person I have shared time with was training for me.
