Emily’s Bio
While in high school, I completed the Health Science Education program at the Boone Career and Technical Center. I specialized in nursing assistant, direct care worker, and EKG technician. I completed 56 hours of clinical training at Hillcrest Health Care Center for nursing assistant and direct care worker. I completed 40 hours of clinical training at Boone Memorial Hospital for EKG technician. I mastered various skills including infection control standards, healthcare safety, patient transfers, and positioning and alignment. When I was in high school, I lived with my grandparents so that I could help take care of my sick grandfather. I would help them with everything they needed, such as cleaning, cooking, cutting grass, laundry, and many other tasks. This experience influenced me to become a registered nurse. I am currently a student in college taking classes to pursue this career. I am transferring to a college closer to home so that I would be able to have a job and go to school at the same time.
