Little guards and swim lessons were really fun because I got to know the children. By the end of the sessions, we would be laughing and playing around together. I worked with Head Start as a part time teachers assistant. Prior to being part time, I was working on call. I have had the opportunity to work with children from 6 months - 6 years with Head Start. After leaving Head Start, I worked at Coastal Community Preschool in the toddler classroom. I sometimes return to the school as a sub. I've worked as a nanny and babysitter off and on throughout my life. When I am with the children, they receive my undivided attention. When there is down time, I am more than happy to take care of household chores. I am comfortable working with all ages. This past year I have had the joy of increasing my infant care experience. I genuinely love caring for children and supporting families. I find it very fulfilling to provide support to a child as they grow and learn. Engaging with kids in their interests and seeing them experience things for the first time are some of my greatest joys. Former pediatric registered nurse with 26+ years of recent experience. I have taken care of two children for at least 5 years. They had some problems eating just because of tantrums or watching TV (I mean when they didn't decide on the same cartoon), but I was able to work it out. I learned to talk to them and be a more patient person because of it. I never had to yell at them and I don't even like that when I see it in some families. I learned to be more creative when making breakfasts or meals for them and also to have them collaborate with me in activities that they can do. For example, cleaning up something they would like to help with. I also have knowledge of first aid for children and adults.
