Hi my name is Salma and I am currently a college student. I have always loved taking care of people, specifically younger kids. I love being around people with a lot of energy and I tend to find that kids will always keep you on your toes and moving and that is definitely something I love about being a sitter. I love being outdoors and being active, and truly doing anything outside when it is sunny. I have always been told that I have a very maternal side as I am commonly called the “mother” of the friend group due to me just always caring for and looking after my friends. I am bilingual, I speak both English and Spanish fluently. I love to read and paint and that’s something I love doing with kids as I feel it allows them to be very creative and hands on. Something that sets me apart from other sitters is I am very attentive, loving, and energetic. I will always try to keep kids busy whether it be indoors our outdoors because I believe in letting kids let there energy out in fun ways while fostering an environment where kids will always learn a new skill or just have fun with what they are doing.

I love being a babysitter because I really enjoy spending time with kids and discovering all sorts of interesting things. It brings me great joy to learn alongside them and it makes this job incredibly fulfilling. I have several years of experience working with children, having been involved in children’s radio programs since I was nine years old, leading music workshops and school concerts. For babies and toddlers from birth up to three years old, I provide daily, age-appropriate activities focused on early childhood development, including motor skills such crawling, walking or talking, autonomy skills, and daily care such as feeding, hygiene, and learning what they can safely eat. I love using music and movement with them, and I’m always researching and learning whether it’s about child development, nutrition, or body movement. This allows me to always think like a child and connect with them at their level, which is the best way I can support their growth. I also like guiding them through values I learned at home since I was little with helped me a lot as a person. Since I was a child, I have been deeply interested in the world of arts and music. From the age of 12, I have been learning to play instruments like the jarana, piano, ukulele, and I perform basic skills in guitar and Latin percussion. Since I was 6, I have also danced folk and Latin American dances. Additionally, since I was 9, I have been part of a radio program, so I am a radio host and do voiceover and radio presenting. I have also been studying to become a jazz singer for two years. I absolutely love dancing, painting, drawing, and creating crafts. I also love cooking; I have learned a lot from my mom. Since I was 12, I have been deeply immersed in a traditional musical genre from my hometown, and I continue to grow my knowledge in that style. I consider myself a nature lover, and I am passionate about teaching kids the importance of caring for the environment. I have and I feel that I connect easily with children. I also have a lot of patience, which I have found is the key to all of this work that I love, and I have been driving since I was 14 years old.

I know that my time and place here is meant to be someone whom supports, educates, and laughs with children. I know how important the tone of voice you use when talking to children, how they see you interact with the world, and how they need humans in their life that are compassionate, patient, and know how effective they can be in molding a child's way of being. I am currently a Philosophy student at UC Berkeley, working on a project that will bring philosophical discussions into classrooms and community centers. Especially in this time, children need help in making sense of everything, answering their questions that are sometimes unanswerable. I want to be that person that supports and provides comfort in the times of confusion or curiosity. I have worked with infants, adolescence, and teenagers. I have nannied infants and coach high school women's volleyball. I want nothing more than to help children, families, and the world in raising who will one day be the minds creating.

Hello, I have recently moved back to my home town Santa Barbara. I was living in SF where I finished graduate school where I received my Associate Marriage Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor Licensures. Before Undergrad and Graduate school I was a nanny for a family for 3 years. There I worked with the ages of infancy and toddler. I believe my years of experience working with children, the service industry, and mental health, has set me to be mindful, caring, curious, open minded, and awareness of others and their needs. I love working with children and more than that just being in their presence because I deeply enjoy watching them grow in every aspect. Not to mention after a long or hard day, they always get me to smile, laugh, and remember what it’s like to be a child. Seeing them develop in all aspects is one on the great, and many byproducts of us as sitters/nannys as we get to see these rewards because of the energy and attentiveness we give back to them. A little bit about some experience I’ve had is: a lifeguard/swim instructor teaching ages 3-15 years (attained CPR, and lifeguard certification), volunteer child care provider ages 2-4years, and currently working as a volunteer tutor with the education+ program. I am available Monday through Friday in the early mornings, Wednesdays-Fridays from 1pm-9pm, along with Weekends which I’m free to sit at any time.
