Growing up in my family my sister and I were always the designated babysitters, we grew up around so many younger cousins ages 6 months 12 years of age. I love kids, I worked last year at a local community center called West Park in Ventura where I did summer camp and after school program. I would have a group of 10 kids at least by myself, that would range from 5-12 years old. We would do outdoor activities, sports, board games, or I would help with homework. I am a recent college graduate from Cal State Long Beach, bachelors in sociology. I plan to further my education in hopes to be a school counselor. In my free times, I love being outdoors, going to the beach, hiking, reading, working out, and spending times with my family. My experience includes working for Channel Island Social services where I provided childcare for children in foster homes as well as individuals with disabilities. Along with this, I worked with a private family for 6 years on a part time basis until the children were old enough they no longer needed supervision. Hi my name is Melanie I’ve been around little kids my whole life. I am the first child in my family which came with many responsibilities like caring and looking out for my baby cousins (girls/ boys), sisters and our family pets( cats/dogs/ hamsters)! Making sure there was always fun and safe activities ahead of us as well as a good snacks/meals. Now that a lot of my cousins and sisters are older I am very thankful to say that I was a big part of their childhood and was able to teach them so much. I have also been an explorer with the Ventura County Sheriffs Department for 6 years now and we work with teenagers ages 13-21.
