I have a masters’ degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College in Boston. I have taken early retirement from a local community college where I was a Professor of ECE for many years. I have a passion for young children and I am amazed and enlightened by their curiosity, creativity, and their constant energy. I love reading to children, process oriented art, singing and dancing and spending as much time outside as possible. I am dedicated to encouraging children to be children and I have an in-depth understanding of typical child development. Hello! My name is Emma Deneen and I graduated from Elon University with a BA in psychology with a focus in childhood development in 2018. For the past two years I have worked full-time alongside graduate school for a nonprofit in-home trauma intervention program for infants aged 0-5 and their caregivers. I have extensive training and experience in parent-child attachment theory, prenatal and child development, behavior management, psychotherapy and play therapy. Previously, I worked in an elementary school as a special education paraprofessional and I have had over 15 years of experience babysitting and nannying children of all ages. I am very comfortable with babies and toddlers, as well as older children, and am well versed in feeding, safe sleep, changing/potty training, and the importance of maintaining routine and structure. I have great longstanding relationships with the families I have worked with or nannied for in the past, and some of them even are like second families to me now.
