Hello Parents and thank you for visiting my profile!
My name is Janie, and I believe strongly in the power of positive child care. As adults, it is our responsibility to teach children how to become responsible young citizens through good example and consistent practice.
*Children who learn from their mistakes develop quicker resourcefulness and perseverance; learning through mistakes is meaningful and has lasting positive effects in growing through adversity and challenge!
*Children who learn to identify and work through their strengths and weaknesses develop a stronger sense of self, more confidence, greater success, and better coping mechanisms.
*The importance of like-minded peer groups should not be underestimated! As children grow, the ability to identify with similar peer groups aids in their overall maturity, confidence, and academic/social development.
I have spent my career working with children of all ages, supporting, researching, developing, and implementing successful programs in academic enrichment. I have taught and directed Summer and Saturday programs, including overnight academic and residential day camps.
As a child, I did not grow up with nannies or babysitters, but vividly remember the bit of envy I had towards childhood friends who did; they always seemed to have so much fun! As parents, it is a not an easy decision to hire a nanny or babysitter for our children; but it is important to remember that it takes a village, an entire community to raise a child,
and that children benefit from this social development. That not only refers to like-minded peer groups, but it also refers to an exposure to teachers, clergy, coaches, librarians, officers, etc. -and sometimes also nannies/babysitters! In an urban environment such as ours, it is an advantage for children to learn how to communicate and learn from adult members of their community, and to embrace who belongs in their world.
Good luck in your search for the right caretaker for your child(ren)! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all, and I'll look forward to hearing from you!
