About a year ago I decided to return to work in Childcare again at 52. I'm currently working M-F, 8-5 as both a Lead Pre-K Teacher (school year) & Lead School-Aged Summer Camp Counselor (Summers). I'm currently FT. Honestly, being a Nanny again would suit my lifestyle better at this time in a more personalized, relaxed, home setting focusing on all aspects of fostering child development. Being a Babysitter & Nanny for families were some of the best experiences I've ever had. I've Babysat & Nannied for all ages (infant to 14), cultures & genders, from 1-5 children. Most of the families I've worked for were 1-3 children. I love my current position as a Pre-K Teacher/Summer Camp Counselor, though I'm always willing to help out parents some eves & weekends who need a quality Babysitter. It's a good break from the classroom setting. My name is Crystal. I am 40 years young with lots of time in childcare. I have two grown young men both looking into being in the arts. One loves music and making sounds. The other a graphic arts designer. As high schooler, I took Child Development because I've always loved children. I would say I want ten however, I was only able to have two. I am looking to foster a child and adopt. I was adopted at two weeks old so I learned to love unconditionally at an early age. I love to teach. I took seven years of Spanish in school and I'm refreshing as I continue to teach. I'm also learning sign language. I have numerous clock hours and CPR training from my current and previous jobs. I have worked at a summer camp for the past 5 summers and loved every minute of it! Always something I would look forward to during the other seasons. I worked with 5-12 year olds at this summer camp. We would go 5 days a week and do outdoor activities, field trips, manage their lunches, help with bathroom breaks, etc. as well as working as a camp counselor I have been a life-gaurd for the past 6 summers so I am CPR and first aid certified. We would practice our CPR skills quite frequently (4/month) so the CPR skills are second nature to me at this point. I also have been babysitting since I was about 13 with different families. I used to have a family I babysat for every week for about a year. And I still sometimes sit for them when they need a babysitter. Usually the ages were 2-8 year olds. Also with having 6 nieces and 1 nephew, I babysit them a lot when their parents need me to. I use to babysit one of my nieces quite frequently with my brother being a single dad. My niece was about 3 months old when i started babysitting her up until she was about 2 years old. So I’ve had a lot of experience with different age groups, on different levels of looking after kids. I love working with kids, because I always have!

That role reinforced my passion for equity in education and the importance of creating inclusive and safe learning environments for children to thrive. This role deepened my love and appreciation for kids even more than before. Though kids can be difficult at times, working with my kids for over 9 hours a day taught me how innocent, pure, and full of life kids are and I love not only being around that energy but helping to create happy memories and safe spaces for children to thrive in! I also taught private swim lessons for over three years to children aged 3+. I was a lifeguard for three years and was American Cross Certified in First Aid and CPR training!
