I'm a certified lifeguard, CPR/first-aid trained, and I have my youth mental health first aid certification. I have experience with ages 1-18, and have experience working with children with mental and physical disabilities. I'm new to the Champaign-Urbana area and would love to connect with some local families! My favorite part of working with kids is helping them embrace their creativity and curiosity. Hello, my name is Kierstyn but I also go by Kay. I am 25yrs old and have a 6yr old and a 2yr old special needs son. I have been working with kids for a very long time, started volunteering at 10, became an assistant teacher at 19 and a lead preschool teacher at 23. Unfortunately I had to change jobs to accommodate my son’s medical appointments so I began working overnight at a group home August of 2024. I have loved it and am looking to help care for others during my time off. I work 4 on and 4 off so I can provide my schedule months in advance. I work 10:30pm-6:30am. Let me start by saying that I am available immediately. I am retired and find I have way too much time on my hands.  I wanted to do something to fill some of the time so I decided I would like to start watching children for people that need a dependable and caring person while they work outside of the home.  I know for a fact that it is a huge relief just knowing when you work outside of the home and you have someone there that is watching over your little ones that is dependable and caring -- that can mean everything.  I have raised 2 daughters and have cared for my 6 grandchildren throughout their years of growing.  Right now their ages are 14, 18, 19, 20, 21 and the oldest being 33 years old and out on his own. When I'm not caring for your children I like to be with my grandchildren as much as possible and go to their sporting events. Spending time with family is very important to me. My preference would probably be to care for children 3 and over. I look forward to being able to come into your home and care for your children while they are in my care. I will do my best to be someone they look forward to seeing when I'm there. .
