I have been working with children professionally as a full time nanny for the past 23 years. I have extensive experience with newborns, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, including experience with twins and in nanny shares. I love to form a bond with the children I work with; I have stayed with most of my nanny families from when their child was a newborn or infant until they began preschool, 2 to 3 years later. I love spending time with kids; they always keep me on my toes! I really enjoy reading books, singing and playing with babies and young children, and taking them out to the park on a nice day. I also incorporate my love of animals and nature in our day, as I love to teach children about the living world around them, and help to bring out their inner scientist. I grew up in the Northern Virginia area just outside of Washington DC; I got my AS at NVCC, before finishing up my BS in Biology at George Mason University. Hello! I've been work with kids since I was about 12 years old and in professional childcare for about 2 years now. I've worked as a teacher's assistant in two facilities, one elementary/middle school (Hanrahan Elementary), one preschool/infant care (Little Sunshines Playhouse), and a week-long stay-away summer camp with high schoolers (Kids Across America). I'm CPR certified through the American Heart Association and have put those skills to use before. I've also owned pets (cats, dogs, and fish), so I'm more than willing to work with kids and animals! I’m the eldest of the children in my family, so I discovered my natural caregiving nature at a young age. I have been a caregiver of people ages 3 through 93! The elderly are such treasure troves of wisdom and history, and the children are good for my soul; they amuse me, surprise me and fascinate me. I like watching them grow, I like teaching them and getting the satisfaction that I have helped a young one learn learn. Currently I am caring for sisters—a three-year-old, and one who turned six years old last month. I most like to play and interact with them in way in which they learn. For example, the girls’ first language is English, and I am teaching them to speak Spanish. Of course, what I’m able to teach them depends on age and what a parent wants in that regard. I’m willing to do light housekeeping, and I am also an experienced house sitter and pet sitter.
