I have been babysitting, nannying, and pet-sitting for about 12 years now. I have experience caring for children ages 1 month - 15 years, with and without learning and behavioral disabilities such as speech delays, autism, and anxiety. Throughout middle school and high school, I would babysit a few days a week including weekends and regularly over the summer. While attending college, I babysat each month I returned home for breaks as well as regularly over the summer. I really enjoy kids! They are naturally authentic and interested in the world. I studied Math and Education in college, and got teaching experience in classrooms ranging from kindergarten to high school. I got certified to teach secondary math, and went on to do a year of Americorps service after college. I moved to Boston in 2007 and began babysitting until I figured out what was next. I enjoyed what I was doing so much that I went on to become a full time nanny the following year. I worked for three years for a family with three children- ages 2, 5, and 7 when I started. After the youngest was off to kindergarten, I took a new position, a nanny share caring for two 2-year old girls. I’ve also babysat for multiple families over the years ranging from overnights with infant twins to school vacation help for 12-year olds. I taught the preschool class at my church for 5 years as well. In October 2012, I had a daughter of my own! I began bringing her along to babysitting/ nanny positions, which worked out quite well. In 2019, after working as a nanny/ babysitter for 12 years, I transitioned to teaching. I worked as an assistant in a combined Pre-K/Kindergarten class for four years before becoming the lead teacher of a separate Pre-K class. I’m Emily and I live in Southborough/Marlborough line, I have been an Infant/Toddler teacher at Bright Horizons and Nanny, on and off for the last 20 years. I love children. After becoming a caregiver to my mom who had AML & transplant, I was inspired to go back to school to purse my nursing degree. I graduated with my BSN RN in 2019 ( my previous undergrad is in psychology) . Through my clinicals and preceptorship I have worked in a multitude of areas along with working as a labor & delivery nurse. Pediatrics & geriatrics are my favorite populations. I had to take a break from inpatient nursing to help care for family and started some private duty nursing along with child care. I just began taking on care again in addition to some private duty nursing I do. I am a BLS provider ( Basic Life Support, a step up from CPR for medical providers). I currently take care of a 19 month old & a 7 year old, the prior family I worked for was with a set of twin boys. I started with them when they were 8weeks old, until 16 months old. I had to resign in 2018, when nursing school became extremely intense, requiring my full attention. Prior to nursing, my previous experience I was an Infant & toddler teacher at Bright Horizons for 6years, taking care of infants ages 6 weeks -15 months old. Bright horizons was a great center for infants. I was in charge of classroom of 7 infants that included creating a weekly curriculum for our babies while in our care, parent meetings every 3 months to review their portfolios, milestones, and new activities and exercises to incorporate day to day if needed. I love working with children of all ages, especially infants.There is nothing like a baby to bring you back to everything that is so precious in life. My friends' who have had babies have all named me the official 'Baby whisperer' as I have a way with babies in particular. I am very close with my Family & fur babies.
