I am 37 and a mother of 3 kiddos. My oldest just completed her first semester in college and is following her dream of one day becoming an FBI agent. Both of my boys are on the spectrum. My oldest son is in highschool and is higher functioning, but had many many struggles with anxiety growing up so together we went to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and learned love, patience, understanding and putting in the work along with many other tools can help you overcome some overwhelming situations. My youngest is a non verbal 2yo that has a laugh that can make any and everyone smile. I have several other family members on the spectrum so while I noticed my youngest sons signs of having autism very early on it never prepared me for the struggles we would face and concur as he progresses and grows into the best him he can be. I am not an expert but am fairly knowledgeable of OT, speech, and will be recieving parent training from ABA. Besides my own children I have helped raise my nieces, nephews and family friends children! My junior year of highschool I was a live in nanny for a young deaf child. I’m an out of the box thinker and am very creative which has especially come in handy with my toddler and getting him on track to hit milestones at more of an age appropriate time frame. I love making activities/toys/organizers etc that the kids love and it ultimately helps them progress more. I love outside (except on the Maryland freezing days) but I know of a ton of fun indoor places to keep everyone happy! I’m an open book. I have nothing to hide and normally share more than I probably should, at least that’s what my husband tells me.
