I worked at an overnight summer camp gaining certification in CPR, First aid, and Lifegaurding. I am also a mandated reporter for child safety. I enjoy engaging with children and encouraging a screen-free outdoor adventure lifestyle while working with them. Hello! I am a recent college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Environmental Studies from Whitman College. I have extensive childcare experience and a genuine passion for working with and teaching children. For three summers, I worked as a camp counselor at an environmental conservation center in New Hampshire, where I worked with children ages 5–13. I was responsible for planning and leading daily activities as well as overnight camping, hiking, and canoeing trips. These experiences taught me a great deal about leadership, safety, responsibility, and decision-making, while also showing me how to make learning engaging and, of course, fun! I am also CPR and First Aid certified, and I am comfortable taking responsibility for children’s safety and well-being. Throughout my time as a camp counselor, I worked with children from many different backgrounds and with a wide range of abilities. I care deeply about creating an inclusive and supportive environment, and I always made an effort to ensure that every child felt included, comfortable, and engaged—both emotionally and physically. I also have many years of babysitting experience, beginning when I was 13 with my very first job. I have continued babysitting throughout the years and am often the designated babysitter at family gatherings, as I naturally gravitate toward spending time with my beloved younger cousins. As for my own interests, I grew up dancing in many different styles, and throughout adulthood I have focused primarily on modern dance and contact improvisation. I love movement in all forms and would be excited to share that with kids through yoga, dancing, and creative movement! I also love to read, learn, and explore new things, and would be more than happy to help with homework, read together, visit museums, or find other fun and engaging ways to learn and explore. I am a compassionate, communicative, energetic, and responsible person who would love the opportunity to become a nanny and be a positive presence in your child’s life. I am a mom of 2 amazing boys, one with special needs. While they are in school I would love to care for your little one. I have worked with children for over 25 years. Most recently I ran a summer camp out of my home for just under 20 children and I currently do after school care. I am also a substitute teacher. This will be my 14th year subbing. Past experience includes running our local recreation department for 8 years and working in a few different daycares. I have attended many trainings and continue to keep up my CEUs.
