After my "journalism" career (too many ad agencies and a faltering book industry), I began working with children, the elderly, and pets. Being a trusted, reliable presence in their lives provides a life balance that I enjoy, and utilizing a care provider with a good attitude is beneficial for everyone involved. For a few years (until I broke my arm skiing on too much ice), I worked part-time as a CNA (Cert. Nursing Assistant), but began spending more time as a substitute for teachers and paraprofessionals in local schools. When Covid came along, I teamed up with a family who wanted to keep a close watch on safety for their premature baby. I was lucky to find a temporary position that allowed me to return to this family to care for their second child, who is now in pre-school (I still babysit on their "date nights." I have raised two sons, one diagnosed with ADHD and the other with Asperger Syndrome (a high-functioning form of autism), conditions that often swim in the same genetic pool. I played on their strengths when offering activity choices to them, and today they are both doing well as young adults following their own career paths. When my children were very young, I taught Sunday school to grade-school-aged children while running a licensed in-home childcare center. I love to do individual outdoor activities that match the weather, although walking my shared Corgi must happen regardless of temperature or precipitation. I tend to eat very well -- my goal is to retain as much of my physical, spiritual, and mental health as possible. I love sharing this knowledge with little ones and helping them to grow into who they were meant to become.

Spending time with children is not only one of my passions, but it's also a delight. Since I grew up as a child of a daycare provider, I learned to take care of children at a young age. At the age of 13, I became a babysitter to many in my church and neighborhood. From this moment on I've taken care of children, teens and infants in various ways. Some of these include: summer camp councilor at Trout Lake Camps, Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school leader, nursery volunteer, AWANA leader, special ed Para professional and nanny.

I love helping young children blossom into their own person. I enjoy caring for them and helping their personality grow. I enjoy crafts, outdoor activities, parks, walks, anything outdoors. I started caring for children at 14. I have worked at a couple daycare centers, I have went through nursing assistant training and CPR / First aide. I do have my own two children as well that are with me almost full time. I took extra chosen classes in High school that helped with child development , and also a fake mechanical baby we took care of. I am also planning on going to school so I can help children get out of tough homes & situations.

I bring hands-on experience working with children in both school and home settings, making me a confident and compassionate caregiver. As a paraprofessional, I supported students with academic tasks, behavior guidance, and emotional support. I’ve also worked as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), helping individuals with personal care, routines, and building trusting relationships. These roles have equipped me with essential skills like patience, communication, multitasking, and problem-solving , all of which are key in providing safe, engaging, and dependable childcare. I’m also CPR and BLS certified, and trained in emotional intelligence and behavior reinforcement, which help me stay calm and supportive in any situation. What excites me most about babysitting is the chance to form real connections with children and support their growth, emotionally, socially, and creatively. I love being someone kids feel safe with, and I find it incredibly rewarding to contribute positively to a family’s daily life.
