Hi! My name is Olivia and I am currently a freshman at North Carolina Wesleyan University. I have worked in childcare for my entire life. In terms of a professional setting, I spent over a year working in childcare for the YMCA. With this, I would be watching dozens of children, from ages 3 months-12 years, with 1 or 2 other coworkers. This environment was stressful and chaotic at moments, but I never once doubted my ability to safely care for those children. I would also find and create age-appropriate activities for kids of all ages to allow a fun and exciting environment for everyone. I have much more experience in informal settings, such as babysitting or nannying. Since I was 12 years old I have been babysitting infants and toddlers. Continuing through my adolescence I began to watch children of older ages (up to 14 years old), and gained skills such as; housekeeping, cooking, pet sitting, and much more. Being the sole caretaker for these children, I was responsible for their meals, homework, bath time, bedtime, and much more. The longest period I have watched children for is a week while the mother was in Florida. This experience is what solidified my full confidence in caring for children over long periods of time. I got each of those kids to school on time everyday that week, kept them fed, and kept them happy, and that is always my goal.
