Saffron D.

Hello! My name is Saffron and I have been in child care for 8 years. I have worked as a preschool teacher, nanny, house manager, and a sitter. I believe that children do best when given the space to learn the vocabulary to express themselves. My approach with children is to meet them where they are and help them develop their skills even further. I focus on emotional understanding and expression and I use the conscious discipline teaching style. I hope to get to meet you and your little ones soon!

Hello! My name is Gracie, and I am a kind and compassionate childcare provider who is very interested in being your babysitter. I am certified in CPR, first aid, and nursing assisting. I have been babysitting since I was little, with experience with all different age groups. I have worked for after-school programs, nannied, tutored, and worked for a bunch of programs for children and families who are less fortunate. I am very empathetic, patient, mind, fun-loving, and outgoing. I love planning activities that children will find entertaining and educational. I absolutely adore working with children in any capacity, and getting the know the kiddos I watch and the families I help are among the best perks of the job. I look forward to hearing from you and wish you the best of luck in finding a sitter!

My 'Prime Objective' as a Caregiver is nurturing a sense of wonder and curiosity in preschoolers -- and imagination plus reality-based competencies in the over-5s. (While keeping them safe and cared for, of course!) And I really prefer to avoid electronic screens for children! That's why I love to read with children. And bring intriguing books from my collection from classic to modern... Plus I'm always up for outdoor fun! And getting down on the floor and building things. Over years, I've put together a big wooden train collection with a SUITCASE full of tracks, specialty pieces like bridges, tunnels, ramps and connectors, with several battery powered remote controllable locomotives. Children 3-9 can literally spend enthralled HOURS assembling their own creative layouts then running trains. (While naturally enhancing their spatial intelligence, collaboration skills and 'stick-to-it-ness'...) Other options: a set of colorful wood blocks; tea sets (covert etiquette lessons and cookie baking!); princess and knight costumes for feeling special and dress-up play; Nerfball shooters (with eye protection!). An old-fashioned portable record player with classic vintage story records. Art supplies, an easel, squirt guns and sprinkler... For several years, I worked as a private-duty CNA and in-home Caregiver for elderly and disabled people. This type of upscale agency work requires immaculate background checks, excellent health, clean drug tests, reliability and being on time, as well as cheerfulness, compassion and competence. Now, I'm semi-retired, active and healthy, and LOVE interacting with children. In high school, I babysat for most of the kids in our neighborhood, was a paid Girl Scout Day Camp Counselor with full charge of eight 9 year old girls, had Red Cross Lifesaver Swimming Certification, and taught horseback riding. Have First Aid and CPR Certificates and recent college Certificate In Child Development. Have experience with autistic and medically fragile children. A recent review, from an ER nurse: "Just wanted to say thank you again for the great care that Sue gave the boys yesterday. She's so patient and amazing and I like the fact that she's mature and is a grandparent herself. She brought her own books and toys and the boys just had a blast with her. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking care, she definitely is an asset..." Allison RN 💚Miss Sue

I have been working in professional childcare since October 2014. In March 2015 I began working as a full-time nanny, and continued until August of 2023, when I took time off to return to school. As a nanny I have cared for children from five months to five years of age, including three sets of siblings (including twins), and a nanny share with children six weeks apart in age. Prior to nannying I worked in a daycare setting, caring for children as young as six weeks. Outside of my nanny and daycare experience, I have worked with children of all ages as a dance teacher, musical choreographer, and summer camp crafts director. I have experience with both parents working out of the house and working from home, and am comfortable around pets. I am CPR and infant/child First Aid certified, and have experience caring for children with moderate to severe allergies. I have always incorporated using baby signs with my younger charges, and I just recently took three levels of ASL (American Sign Language). I am dedicated to working with parents to raise happy, healthy, adventurous, confident, and kind children. Particularly I like to emphasize reading, music, arts & crafts, and outdoor time at age-appropriate levels. Having grown up in Durham and Hillsborough, I am aware of the great resources we have in the area for kids, particularly our local libraries and parks, and love to take kids on outings! Currently I am looking for a part-time position while I finish up my last class for my degree. Because of this class I am unavailable Tuesdays and Thursdays prior to 11am-12pm (start time dependent on distance from Durham Tech). Outside of work, I spend much of my time dancing, acting, choreographing musicals, reading, attending Bible study, singing, going to trivia, and working out.
