Shannon M., Nanny in Shoreham, NY 11786 with 15 years of paid experience

My name is Shannon and I have been babysitting and nannying since high school, but started taking it seriously when I moved to NYC for college.  I have au pair experience, volunteer experience as well as babysitting and nannying experience both full-time and part-time.  I absolutely adore children and enjoy their company.  I can cook, and tutor children to the best of my ability.  I speak Spanish and English.  I love all pets and have two cats myself.  I love taking the children to the park or out for an afternoon stroll, but I also love playing board games or cards.  I prefer to do educational and productive activities with the children.  I'm no to low screen time! I will read to babies in both Spanish in English or even help older children learn a little bit of Spanish along the way.  I am very enthusiastic and upbeat and have a lot of patience which is why I love caring for children so much.  Please note that after years of taking care of other people's children, I had my own baby boy who just turned 2 this summer! If I do work, I will have to bring my toddler along who is so sweet and playful and loves to jump right into whatever we are doing! I was lucky enough to go back to work after my maternity leave, but now the boys I watched are in full time school! I am great with multiple children and can balance everything very well. I would prefer something local so that my boyfriend can pick up our son after 4pm when he gets home from work. I know this situation won't be ideal for everyone and that's okay! I have over 15 years of experience and countless references to back up my abilities!

Jessica D., Nanny in Shoreham, NY 11786 with 10 years of paid experience

My name is Jessica/Jessie and I love children. Rest assured, I am Adult, Child and Infant, Pediatric CPR/AED & First Aid Certified. I have experience with children and adults who have special needs. Experienced with infants, toddlers, and grade school children. Currently, I am an occasional sitter for multiple families. I drive a reliable 2021 Subaru Forester, and have a clean driving record. Organized and experienced, I enjoy making the time I’m there enjoyable for everyone. From climbing the tree in the yard together to homework help, and meal prep, it will be done. I’m classically trained, I play the viola and drums. So I love bringing various instruments such as hand drums, small tambourine, and maracas for the children to enjoy. I bring a mini speaker and encourage dance, exercise and self expression. It’s been amazing to me, how much I’ve observed how music really helps the children use their imaginations! I’ll bring lots of other activities like a craft, coloring books, markers, matching games, a variety of balls are always with me, to share with your children. Additional sports equipment, and soccer nets are also available upon request and are all included in my rate. I’m looking forward to finding more families to build a relationship with. Childcare is something that comes really natural for me, this is one of the reasons I love it so much. Looking forward to speaking with you soon. Several recent references available upon request.

Rosalie D., Nanny in Shoreham, NY 11786 with 30 years of paid experience

Hello Families, I've had great experiences with working both as a nanny (24 years-6 years with one family, most recent family was for 4 years 2014-2018) caring for children newborn to 7 years old, and as a teacher (daycare/preschool) for over 3 years teaching from 3 months to 5 years of age. I truly love being around kids and the fact that they allow me to enjoy the day and have fun. I try to incorporate learning experiences into everything that I do with them (counting number of food items/toys we are playing with, saying the color of items being used/seen, reading the signs we see along our walks and such). I incorporate the kids' interests in the daily activities to keep them entertained while learning. I enjoy seeing/teaching a child something new. I incorporated sign language into my infant class (during my time as a nanny as well) to allow them to talk before they have developed their speech skills. To help encourage them to reach their important early milestones, for the young ones, I do: tummy time; reading; lots of music -sing/play along; sensory toys; mirror play; help with hand-eye coordination and such. I love music and doing arts and crafts, especially for the holidays. I enjoy the outdoors and going for walks, the beach, parks, zoos (Ecology Center is the best) and making use of the local library or even pet/local stores (when the weather keeps us indoors). I have no problem helping care for your pets as well while I'm there. I'm a big animal lover I have to rescues of my own. I would like to also mention that I held a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) up until 2016. My certification expired due to lack of hours. The experience of working in a hospital/nursing homes along with CPR/AED certification has allowed me to be fully prepared for emergencies. I held my NYS Teaching Assistant Certification (K-12) as well. I have had background screenings done with the most recent one with the last family (2014). I feel that I am pretty flexible and I like to be up front and look for that in the family I work with. I feel open communication is a good quality for both sides to help things run smoothly. I have enjoyed becoming a part of the family, in the past, and I am hoping to find that again. I have letters of recommendation from families I worked for other than what is listed on my profile. I will give contact information when it's needed Thank you for your interest in me and I wish you luck in finding the right person for your family
