Amanda J., Nanny in La Vernia, TX 78121 with 4 years of paid experience

Hello, My name is Amanda. I have a 15 month old daughter and a 6 year old step son. I am opening up my house to watch other’s little ones as I am a stay at home mom. I am technically a nurse, but have put aside my nursing career to raise our children for now. I know how hard it is to find good childcare. While I am not offering the typical schedule of coming over to someone’s house to watch their little ones, I believe opening our home for someone to drop off their child may still be beneficial for someone in need of childcare. I have experience with my own children as well as doing clinical rotations at NICU and pediatric clinics. I have prior experience babysitting neighborhood children growing up ranging from 1-8 years old. We do not run a daycare. Instead it is an opportunity for preferably 1, but up to 2 children to be in a family focused environment where we learn, play and have fun. We watch minimal amounts of TV and if we do it’s an educational program. We do not have iPads or computers for our children. Instead we read books, play outside, make up creative games at home and focus on learning activities like sign language, flash cards, workbooks, and sensory play. We typically get outside to play at a park first thing in the morning but depending on the weather we may go to the library or book store. During the school year we also drop off big brother at school and pick him up as well. With this in mind it would require the parents being okay with providing a car seat for their little one and being okay with transportation of their little one. I would ask that you provide food for the day for your child. We do not have gluten or dairy in our house due to autoimmune and allergic reactions, but your little one may be used to those foods and that is perfectly fine. We do snack time around 9am, lunch at 11:30am and nap time is from around 12-3pm with another snack time after naps. We do family dinner at 5pm. We have black out curtains and sound machines for nap time. We practice settling down before nap time and also having quiet time at certain points in the day so the kids can practice self regulation. I realize this is very specific and does not suit everyone, but if this aligns with your parenting style and you’re looking for childcare, I’d be happy to hear from you.
