Kids usually love me because I’m a responsible version of them, so you can bet we’ll be having a lot of “wear your helmet” and “no don’t touch that” fun. They’ve taught me things adults have trouble learning from each other, like listening and communicating. Their minds absorb things faster and they usually communicate their feelings well if you pay attention. They mimic everything they learn even if they aren’t aware of it so it’s wonderful watching them grow while teaching them right from wrong and really seeing the positive impact you’re making. Sort of like a big sister. I love relaxing and watching cartoons just as much as they do, but I love the feeling of teaching them something new, so I like to separate tv, school, and play time rather than just sitting them in front of a screen. I definitely use snacks and bike rides as motivation to learn/do chores when needed. My timeouts are called “silent seconds”, because we think about our actions in this house!

Honestly, I have a lot of experience with children, I’ve had plenty of little cousins and siblings, I love being able to show them things that children should enjoy, I have skills from the experience with my family. I know how to make bottles, change diapers, clean and make sure things are sanitary for children, I have experience in meal prep and making meals. I also have pets that I know how to take care of. I like to clean as it relaxes me and benefits the home. I have experience with being able to engage with children with their fun activities.

I am married and have one adult child . Beautiful Galveston Island is my home. I am a retired Elementary School teacher. Teaching all levels of elementary age children from the average to the gifted and talented was very rewarding to me. I have tutored children through the years, and I home schooled my child. Needless to say, working with children and caring for babies are favorites of mine. Some of my other hobbies include arts and crafts, baking, shopping, running errands and traveling.
