Having a degree in early childhood, for the past twenty years, I have watched infants, toddlers, older children and twins. I find it rewarding to be involved in the toddler years with all the major learning and natural curiosity present during that age. In my previous childcare positions, the child and I have enjoyed visits to the library, park, and daily neighborhood walks. Walks always provide fun opportunities for observation of nature, squirrels, flowers, and outside activities. Keeping schedules and familiar routines has been a priority for me in working with young children. I believe it gives them a healthy sense of expectation and promotes security throughout their day. My past experience and knowledge of infants is an asset. I have cared for several children since birth and even have been called a “baby whisperer” due to my ability to identify their unspoken needs. I was also the “lead teacher” in the birth-to-crawlers nursery every Sunday at a church for several years. Infants are like little sponges picking up new surroundings in their world. Hey there! A little bit about me.. I’m 21 years old and live in the colonial heights area but definitely don’t mind driving 30-40ish minutes to work if need be as I have done so prior! If I had to describe myself in 3 words they would be compassionate, easy going, and funny. People who know me would say I’m honest, dependable, and loving. As far as my experience with children I have worked in daycares, preschools, and currently am a nanny. The family I work for is no longer needing a nanny so I am on the hunt for my next nannying position! While working at daycares and preschools I worked mostly with 2 and a half year olds but also with a variety of ages ranging for 6 months-5 years old! Due to working in those environments I am able to help potty train if need be, very creative when it comes to doing arts and crafts, know fun and interactive ways such as music for example to help learn things such as abcs, numbers, colors,etc! As far as nannying goes however your schedule is with your child I will do my best to keep it the same whether it’s nap time being the same time or lunchtime being the same time! Whatever works for you and your family I will do! I have no issues with light meal prepping, nap time, again I can help with potty training if needed, changing diapers, bottle feeding, etc! I also have no problem doing light house work such as meal prepping, laundry if need be, dishes, and cleaning up after play time! If and when you and myself both feel comfortable I do have a license and my own vehicle and love to take children places like the children’s museum, the library for story time, parks, the pool during the summer,etc! When it comes to being a nanny I feel it is important to create a bond with the family and make it feel like a second family which is exactly what I aim for! I want you as parents to feel comfortable and as at ease as possible and know your child is in good hands while with me! And as for your child it is always my goal to make sure they feel loved, safe, and cared for while with me!
