I am looking for a family with active kids, full of energy, and that is ready to have a great time! Parents that wish their kids could be more active and outdoors are also welcome. :) (I also enjoy indoor activities, though!) I believe as much as kids can stay outside, playing, and distracted, the better, so they don't get bored or start missing their parents. I love to be out with kids, playground, pool, playing sports, riding a bike, chalking, playing tag, hide and seek, and enjoying the nice weather - if possible! Ps: If your kids like to learn new things, and some Portuguese (I'm from Brazil), I will be more than happy to teach them!

Rhonda N., Nanny in Gainesville, VA 20155 with 16 years of paid experience

Hello! My name is Rhonda, and I am a Virginia native with a genuine passion for caring for children and supporting families. As the oldest of six girls, nurturing others has always been a natural part of who I am. After transitioning from a career in finance, I followed my heart into childcare, and it has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. For more than 16 years, I have had the privilege of caring for children of all ages—from newborns and infants to school-aged children—including those with special needs. Throughout my career, I have worked with private families and nanny agencies as a Professional Nanny, Household Manager, ROTA Nanny, Night Nanny, and in the role of a Newborn Care Specialist, building lasting relationships founded on trust, reliability, discretion, flexibility, and compassionate care. What I value most about being a nanny is the opportunity to build meaningful, lasting connections with the children and families I serve. Whether working in a traditional nanny role, providing overnight newborn care, or supporting families on a ROTA schedule, I strive to provide consistency, stability, and seamless care that allows children to thrive. While safety is always my highest priority, I believe children flourish when they feel loved, understood, encouraged, and supported. My goal is to create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, confident, and free to explore the world around them. My caregiving style is Montessori-inspired, encouraging independence, self-confidence, hands-on learning, and age-appropriate exploration. I enjoy creating engaging learning experiences through everyday activities while supporting each child’s natural curiosity, emotional well-being, and developmental milestones. Compassion and service have always been deeply rooted in my family. My parents dedicated more than 45 years to caregiving, teaching my siblings and me the importance of kindness, patience, integrity, and treating every person with dignity and respect. Those values continue to guide the care I provide every day. When I’m not caring for children, I enjoy spending quality time with my three granddaughters, reading, walking, dancing, volunteering in my community. A long-term position with a wonderful family where we can build a strong partnership based on trust, open communication, and mutual respect is my desire.

Ms. Rhonda has been an incredible support to our family. Her help with overnight care allowed me to get the rest I needed so I could show up as the best mom possible for my child. She is caring, attentive, and truly thoughtful in the way she provides care. Knowing my baby was in such capable and compassionate hands gave me complete peace of mind. I am deeply grateful for her and highly recommend her.

I am a former Montessori preschool teacher (certified through AMS with 7 years of experience). Currently I am a stay at home mom with a 6 year old son and a 19 month old baby boy. I would like to babysit for a family who is okay with one or both kids being present. Both my kids are very friendly and sociable. My Montessori experience has equipped me to support the development of social skills in group settings. This is a potential benefit to my coming with my own kids when babysitting. I am looking for a school year babysitting position. My older son attends a forest school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9-3 in Annandale. I’m looking for babysitting hours during this time. I would have only my 19 month old with me.

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Beatrice. We had her nanny our 2 yo son for about 2 months before the pandemic hit. She then sadly moved away, and we were unable to have her nanny anymore. She is well trained in Montessori and early childhood learning, and she brings her son along while nannying. She is smart and sensitive to the children's needs and really fostered great interaction between her and my son. They really became great friends in such a short amount of time, and I felt that my son learned a lot of wonderful lessons from their interaction. If you have the chance to incorporate her into your childcare -do so. She is really very talented and professional. I just wish we had her with us longer!

Hi! I have 5 siblings, and a pet chinchilla 😊 Moved from Upstate New York to Virginia recently! Cared for children with special needs under AIMS for about 2 years. Volunteered at a Sunday/Friday Private School for the past four years. I can work immediately. Full time, part time; you name it! Available weekdays and weekends, 8 am till overnight if needed. Can be flexible with timings. I am CPR certified. I know how to use an EpiPen. Won’t be able to do pick up/drop off. $35-$40 an hour would be ideal. Open to negotiations!

I’m the proud mother of 3 girls who are now 21 twins and 17. I am interested in working with younger children again. My twins have cerebral palsy so I became a very involved stay at home mom. I loved teaching and playing with my children as they grew up.

eview We are incredibly grateful to have found Claire to care for our baby daughter. From the very first day, she has been amazing. Her warmth, patience, and genuine love for children are evident in every interaction. Not to mention how trustworthy she is. Our daughter absolutely adores her. Claire also engages her with fun, educational activities that keep her both entertained and learning. She’s also very flexible and communicates wonderfully with us.

Hello Parents, I am a 35 years old and have been working with children since I was 14. I have experience as a nanny, house manager, personal assistant, babysitter, house sitter and pet sitter. I am the oldest of six children and have experience with special needs, food and drug allergies. I specialize in infants and toddlers and take a special interest in children with anxiety. I have worked for several families long term as well as on call, part time, and date nights. My favorite thing about watching children is watching them grow, learn and discover new and great things about the world around them. I believe that routine is very important when it comes to raising children and having a regular caregiver that knows them, their habits, their likes and dislikes makes a huge difference! I am comfortable with homework help, drop off and pick up, taking children to activities as well as inventing activities, potty training, feeding, cooking, cleaning, laundry and more. In addition to this I am also featured on the Sittercity activities blog! I very much look forward to hearing from you!

I have worked in preschools and with individual families receiving cpr and first aid training and extensive knowledge in child development. In each setting I was able to develop long term relationships with families with children from ages 12wks to 12years. I am strongly focused on making sure children have the best early childhood experiences because these moments really do shape their lives. I have been called a chameleon many times because I am able to use what I have learned and apply it directly to a child's specific needs. It is very important to me that children feel loved, happy, safe and confident in themselves. Through lots of messy crafts, silly songs, fun games and reading your child will grow past your expectations.

Terita was a big help with my kids especially being that I needed her help last minute. My daughter is at the age where she tells it all and she loved Ms. Terita. She will be a great fit if you have busy kids. I will definitely book her again if I ever need a sitter.

I can’t wait to meet your family! I have extensive child care, from new borns- including premies, toddler, school going age and adult/hospice care. Since leaving my formal job where I designed early childhood development programs for non profits for over 18 years, and worked with USAID/contractors helping countries design their programs for early learners. Right now I’ve taken a year off from work. Finishing my children’s book and a few other things. I work for a select few families who love me and their kids love me. Did I say my specialty is actually babies and premies from new borns to 12 months. If you have an older kid yes I can always provide care too for an extra $1. I am very energetic, a runner so your toddler boys and girls will have a treat! I have raised my own kids who are now young adults, super successful and very kind human beings. I am most proud of being a mother and I want to help other mothers and fathers manage their work schedules while balancing child care with less stress. I work weekends and some holidays except Christmas and Thanksgiving. My friends call me loyal, dedicated, kind and trustworthy. I am a problem solver--most importantly I have great vibes, kids love me at first sight and parents trust me!I am also health conscious, a runner, which helps to keep up with kids. I look forward to providing your child care needs!

Sarah is an amazing sitter. The moment she walked in my kids took to her immediately. She has a very sweet and calm demeanor. She was great with both girls and we can't wait to have her back.

My name is Reina I am originally from El Salvador, which make me fluent in spanish. I love being outdoors, reading and learn new things all the time. Reason why I do babysitting as a side part time job is because I love kids and enjoy engaging and learning new things with them. I have many years of experience babysitting and as a mom of two kids 8 and 10 years old. I am very responsable, reliable, truthworthy and follow all instructions on how parents want me to care for their loved ones.

Reina is AMAZING. She is kind. She genuinely cared about our daughter, and our daughter loved her like a second mother--because she was like a second mother. Reina is also very smart and responsible. She read up on childcare, applied what she found, and was great about following any instructions we had. Reina was also incredibly patient, even in the face of toddler chaos and tantrums, which made me feel very safe having her in charge. We were lucky enough to have Reina come for hours several days per week for multiple years, so we worked with her a lot. I'm probably forgetting some other great qualities to mention. But given how intelligent and trustworthy she is, I know that I would highly recommend her for any position. She is a talented, caring, and careful person.

I have always enjoyed working with children. I started babysitting in junior high and by the time I was in high school I had an afternoon job at a local day care center. I went on to get my teaching degree in Elementary Education and taught five years of third grade and a year of kindergarten. After having three children of my own and taking some time off I went back to teaching but decided to try preschool instead and ended up teaching 8 years of it. After teaching elementary I was surprised at how much I loved working with the little ones. I was the lead teacher for a 3 and 4 year old class for 5 years and my last three years I taught a 5 day a week k-4 position. Over the last 10 years I’ve been doing part-time /full time Nanny jobs. I have worked for over 18 families and have taken care of over 41 children ranging from newborn to 12 years olds. I have enjoyed using my teaching skills and early childhood training to create a loving , nurturing, fun and safe environment for each child I take care of. I appreciate all the opportunities I have had to work with such wonderful parents and their amazing children.

Linda has worked for our family for the past year and a half, and we are sadly moving out of state. She has become a part of our family--caring for my 6 year old (with ADHD), 3 year old, 2 year old, and 7 month old. She was there the day we came home from the hospital with the baby, and has been flexible, reliable, trustworthy, and loving with all of the kids. She is creative, and teaches them preschool activities, does crafts, and even cleans while they nap. The kids talk about her as if she is family, and we have never felt comfortable leaving our kids (even all 4, including a newborn!) with anyone other than her. Highly, highly recommend her!
