Having a degree in early childhood, for the past twenty years, I have watched infants, toddlers, older children and twins. I find it rewarding to be involved in the toddler years with all the major learning and natural curiosity present during that age. In my previous childcare positions, the child and I have enjoyed visits to the library, park, and daily neighborhood walks. Walks always provide fun opportunities for observation of nature, squirrels, flowers, and outside activities. Keeping schedules and familiar routines has been a priority for me in working with young children. I believe it gives them a healthy sense of expectation and promotes security throughout their day. My past experience and knowledge of infants is an asset. I have cared for several children since birth and even have been called a “baby whisperer” due to my ability to identify their unspoken needs. I was also the “lead teacher” in the birth-to-crawlers nursery every Sunday at a church for several years. Infants are like little sponges picking up new surroundings in their world.
