For six years I was the lead counselor on a community farm in Portland, OR, for ages 5 to 12. We would play games in the garden, put on puppet shows, learn about wildlife, all while staying safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kids are my favorite people. I was a full-time nanny for three children for over 4 years — twins who were infants when I started and their four-year-old sibling. I was there for all of it: diapers, bottles, naps, first words, first steps, and every skinned knee in between.
