Hi, Long story short- in 2011, I graduate from UW with a business/IT degree and in 2013, I received my MBA at WWU. But, I decided not to go the corporate route just yet. At the time, being 23 with an MBA- I really didn't have much free-time to myself as I was only focused on my education and potential business career. So, I decided to look into what my passions were (and they still are)- children, family and travel. Therefore, for the past 5 years- I have been mainly babysitting and nannying to help fund for my world travels. During those years, I've helped well over three dozen families- caring for over 60+ children of all ages. I have enjoyed and loved every moment of it. I've learned a great deal from each family and each child. I also have over 8 years of childcare experience prior to those 4 ½ years- primarily in daycare settings. I've found many families that I will always keep in touch with- some of which I still help out whenever needed. It's been a blessing to see all the children grow up. So, when I first started traveling- I would go for 4 to 6 months at a time. I've been all over Southeast Asia, Central & South America, Europe and Lebanon. But as I'm getting older and have my heart invested in families- I've slowed down on my travels because to be honest, kids are more important. :) I now mainly do short-trips (mostly when families are on vacation/ there's a large gap in my schedule). And I'm starting to have an interest in small trips around the US. Unfortunately, the family that I’ve been with for over 6 years no longer need my help as the boys are old enough to take care of themselves. Hello! My name is Dominique (Lauren is my first name). I am an artist and nanny living on Camano Island! I am looking for part-time work, around 30 hrs/week. I am comfortable driving children, but prefer not to use my own car. Most of my experience had a been with ages 11 months-5 years. I love working with toddlers especially, it’s fun to be a part of them learning about the world and how to communicate. And as they get older watching their sense of humor develop is always a delight. I place an emphasis on getting time outside and always plan my day with that in mind. I live by the saying “there’s no bad weather, only bad clothing.” I started foraging mushrooms a few years ago and love when I’m able get kids interested in nature too. I love to prepare healthy snacks and meals and encourage trying new foods.

Since I was a pre-teen working with children has always come naturally. I have been providing care for families since I was a child myself. At 12 I had my first in home job as a sitter for a two and five year old. I've cared for a wide age range of boys and girls, from only children to multiple kids in play groups. I am certified in youth protection, first-aid, and CPR from my work as an after-school program coordinator for the Boy Scouts of America. Meanwhile my background as a program assistant to the Young Actors Workshop (grade k-12) has provided me with a menagerie of fun games that will entertain all types of children. I have no problem cooking a tasty meal, and getting them to bed on time.

I have been a nursing assistant for 10 years and love working/ being around children. I worked as a babysitter throughout high school, I watched 2 children and dog as needed for a military family. I am comfortable watching children/pet, cooking and cleaning. I am trained in first aid and CPR, have my bachelors degree and working through my masters degree. I love doing crafts and being outside.
