Hello Maria here. I'm 100% children focused: playing games, reading books, trips, homework help, etc. Seeking occasional work before noon or after 7pm, as I have a part time position I'm very happy about. I clean up after any activity or meal. I don't use the computer -- unless it’s for an activity for the children. Rarely use the phone. I grew up cooking Italian food, cooked vegetarian at a Retreat Center, and can cook pretty much any food that children enjoy – often from scratch. As the eldest of 5 children it was often my job to watch my siblings who were 1 to 14 years younger than I was. My first job, at age 10, was babysitting a neighbor’s child while the parents enjoyed date nights. At age 14 I babysit for 2 girls, 24 hr a day, all weekend and took 2 buses to get to and from their home. I've babysat for my nephews and nieces (I have 10 of them, 6 in one family), sometimes at their home, often at mine, and watching up to 6 of them at a time. I mentored 3 children in foster care and they stayed at my home 1 weekend a month. I have also mentored nearly 400 teens, and have two community service awards. I was not blessed to have children of my own. Often I "borrow" children whose families I met at church to spend a day enjoying life with them. We've gone to museums, on picnics, for walks, done gardening, and enjoyed parks, the beach, play games, cards, gone to movies, etc. I teach children old NYC streets games, sometimes we watch movies and play games, often we cook together. I have been employed by PARKS at an after school center and can do lots of crafts, homework, day trips, etc. I play the accordion (not well any more) but have taught children to read music and play very basic songs. I have a CPR and First Aid Certification that expired in May 2020. I have not renewed due to Covid. I was bonded by a Tax Advisory firm and also on Wall Street, when I worked there. I was brought up cooking Italian food, cooked vegetarian at a retreat house, and cook age appropriate foods for or with children. I have two masks and am very careful regarding underlying condition regarding Covid, Since Feb 2021, I have taken a train once -- to go to jury duty. Have not been on train. I have a car... but no air conditioning. I have lots of references.

I have many years experience caring for children of all ages professionally. I have a clean background and reliable transportation. I have worked as a caregiver for the past 15 years helping elderly and disabled clients in their homes. I'm also a mom of a 27 year old son and 18 year old daughter and grandmother of 1 year old granddaughter 🙂 I love to cook making healthy meals and snacks, keeping homes clean and tidy, do arts/crafts, play games/ do puzzles and read books/watch movies occasionally and going to play outside in the fresh air when weather is decent. I enjoy pets and helping with them as well if needed. I'm flexible about days and times and for date nights too. I could even do overnights as well with a days advance notice if you need a weekend getaway. Please reach out if you are interested in meeting with me. Thanks Teresa😊

Experienced nanny with a high-focus on building healthy attachment styles by creating a predictable environment, guiding emotional and mental development. While I do incorporate a lot of learning into our play from neuroscience books I've read, I prefer to keep it fluid and still allow the child to be a child. I follow a Montessori approach, so I don't feel comfortable forcing learning or being rigid with the methods. Particularly with toddlers, I allow them to take the lead through their interests to develop their independence and need for autotomy. This empowers them to manage nonnegotiable rules and boundaries with less meltdowns; in other words, we're building the foundational skills for compromising. WFH Families Unfortunately, I am not a good fit for this environment I have worked with lovely families and even then, found my introverted temperament type gets exhausted integrating into the nuances of a family dynamic.

My name is Taryn and I have been a nanny for the last 12 years. I am also a certified medical assistant. I have worked with multiple families as a nanny and they have all become like family. I work part time for an amazing family right now and have been with them for the last five years but as their youngest is starting school soon the hours won’t be enough. I have a 3 year old daughter that I occasionally bring with me depending on the time of day. I have continued to do this for so long because I find it extremely rewarding. I have multiple references from past and current families I’ve worked for and I hopefully will meet more amazing families soon!

Why I Love Being a Sitter I love being a sitter because I genuinely enjoy supporting children’s growth, curiosity, and daily routines. Being part of a child’s day — whether that’s helping them learn something new, explore outdoors, or feel safe and cared for — is incredibly rewarding to me. I value creating a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where kids can feel secure and parents can feel confident leaving their little ones in my care. My Experience I have professional childcare experience working with infants, toddlers, and young children in private family settings. I’ve supported families with daily routines, meals, naps, outings, developmental play, and safe transportation. In addition to childcare, I have a background in healthcare and patient care, which has strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure, follow safety protocols, and communicate clearly with families. I also have customer service and coordination experience, which helps me stay organized and dependable. Skills & Training • CNA training with clinical patient care training • One year of BSN nursing education • Strong safety awareness and hygiene practices • Experienced with infant & toddler routines • Reliable, punctual, and communication-focused • Comfortable with pets and active households • Skilled in structured play, routine building, and transitions • Experience with scheduling, documentation, and parent updates My Care Style My approach is attentive, engaging, and safety-first. I focus on age-appropriate activities, outdoor time, reading, and interactive play rather than excessive screen time. I’m dependable, respectful of household routines, and I work closely with parents to make sure care aligns with their preferences and values.
