I am a gardener/horticulturist/garden writer by trade but have been a serial dog owner my entire life. I have had a border collie as a kid but an Irish Setter was my first real dog of my own. Ten years later I got my first golden and now am on my fourth. Her name is Peaches and she has outlived all my other goldens at 12 1/2 despite living with cancer and receiving twice per year immunotherapy cancer vaccinations.

When I was in high school I worked at a dog kennel and then moved in and lived on site. After that I lived on a property and took care of a small kennel of show English Pointers.

Now as a gardener, my girl goes to work with me every day.
