It is one thing to have dogs, cats, gerbils, and fish of your own-- but taking on the responsibility of other's furry (or not-so-furry) friends) is a completely different ball game! They are truly members of the family, and their owners need to trust that you will provide the same care, love and respect that they deserve. In our family, we currently have an 80 lb magnificent mutt named Bo, part Golden Retriever and part Boxer (they think). So big dogs (that like to chase squirrels as you are trying to walk them) are no daunting task for me. I have also dog-sat a giant Rottweiler with a giant attitude to match, who needed allergy shots, allergy medication, and who needed a firm hand. He enjoyed his bath outside, but I am used to corralling dogs in the bathtub as well. In addition to watching dogs, I have watched cats and made sure they were groomed and fed-- and for the active ones, they had play time. I also used to have gerbils-- so any member of the rodent family is fine by me. My experience with reptiles is somewhat limited to interactions with friend's pets, however I am adventurous and a fast learner-- so I would be up for anything!
